"Besides strengthening bilateral relations, the foreign minister`s visit is also aimed at sharing experience in solving political crises," Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Abdurrahman Muhammad Fachir said here on Saturday.
The Indonesian ambassador said that the Egyptian political situation after the resignation of president Hosni Mubarak on February 11, 2011 was almost the same as that in Indonesia in 1998.
"Therefore, both nations need each other in sharing their thoughts for solving the problems they are facing," he said.
Marty will be visiting Cairo for one day on April 14, 2011 and is scheduled to meet his Egyptian counterpart, Nabil Elaraby.
Earlier in February, former Indonesian foreign minister Hassan Wirajuda visited Cairo to deliver a written letter from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to the Egyptian government.
The letter which was received by then foreign minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, was extended one day before Hosni Mubarak resigned.
"President Yudhoyono`s letter to the Egyptian president in a essence contained matters on sharing experience, especially steps that needed to be taken to solve political and security crisis," Wirajuda said.
In his address during a cordial meeting in the Saleh Kamil Hall, Al Azhar University, Ambassador Fachir said Egypt would serve as an example for other countries in solving its political crisis.
"It can be imagined what will happen if President Mubarak did not resign. Egypt would plunge into a deeper political crisis such what happened in Libya, Yemen and several other countries in the Middle East," he said.(*)
