Jambi, Jambi province (ANTARA News)- Kajoe Aro tea produced by plantation company PTPN-VI in Kerinci district, Jambi province, is now almost dominating the world tea market, a company executive said.

PTPN-VI commercial director Edy Yanto said here on Thursday Kajoe Aro tea was almost dominating all major countries of the European Union such as the Netherlands, Germany, Britain, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, including Italy.

In addition, mainland America, Asian countries such as Japan, China, India, Sri Lanka amd Australia had also become potential markets for Kajoe Aro tea, he said.

Kajoe Arp tea exports consisted of the comodity`s number one and number two quality types in powder form, while the number three quality type was sold in the domestic market, he said.

The average annual production of the Kajoe Aro tea reached 5,500 tons in the form of orthodox black tea powder, he said, adding that the Kajoe Aro tea is prefered because it is natural and without chemical processing.

The Kajoe Aro tea, however, is indeed not very popular in domestic markets, and difficult to find the tea in the supermarkets.

Kajoe Aro tea plantation reached 3,014.60 hectares or the widest in Asia, he said. (*)
