The MoU was signed by ANTARA`s president director Ahmad Mukhlis and his counterpart of RRI Niken Widiasturi in the presence of head of ANTARA`s supervisory board Henri Subiakto and RRI`s supervisory board executive IB Alit Wiratmaja.
Ahmad Mukhlis said the past historic cooperation between the two agencies in broadcasting news of Indonesian independence had been revived again.
"Today we revived the past historic cooperation again to safe and continue strengthening the nation`s character," he said.
He said the cooperation being revived was a future dimension of "never ending agenda" which means doing the best for the future which carries a lot of hope.
"I believe this cooperation will contribute to a change of mindset into what we are expecting," he said.
ANTARA and RRI have the same agenda namely strengthening the nation`s character, making them world-class and therefore, he said, they need to conduct physical, mental and character development for venturing abroad as information envoys.
Niken Widiastuti meanwhile said the MOU was the continuation of the cooperation established by ANTARA and RRI founders since the country`s independence which was broadcast worldwide through radio by ANTARA journalists.
Niken said the cooperation would be realized in the form of news exchange, joint coverage and the establishment of website links between the two agencies.
"A lot of cooperation could be done by ANTARA and RRI. I think the two have the same vision namely building nation`s character," she said.
She said the MoU could be realized soon with concrete actions. On the occasion RRI also launched its data and information service center which is important to meet the demand for quick and comprehensive data.(*)
