Timika, Papua (ANTARA News) - One mine worker of PT Freeport in Timika, Mimika, Papua province, identified as Hamdani was still missing following an underground landslide that happened at around 11pm on Monday.

Deputy chief of Mimika police precinct, commissioner Mada Indra Laksanta told ANTARA News here on Wednesday that the search and rescue team was still searching the missing worker.

"In accordance with information we received (the victim) has not yet been found, so searching effort is still underway," he said, adding that another mine worker, Obet Tatogo, was killed due to an industrial accident at the Panel 2 North DOZ underground mining area.

The accident happened on Monday (April 18) at about 11pm local time.

Obet Tatogo`s body had been brought to Timika on Tuesday (April 19) and was laid in state in Serui Mekar street in Koperapoka village.

Report said that Obet Tatogo`s body will be buried at his hometown in Paniai.

PT Freeport spokesman, Ramdani Sirait said that due to the incident for the time being the DOZ mining operations had been halted for investigation purposes and clearing of landslide materials.

Ramdani also said the mining inspector of the ministry of mineral resources and energy had been called to conduct an investigation into the incident.

ANTARA learned the landslide occurred while mining activity was underway. Landslide materials buried heavy equipment such as a loader and a rockbreaker with their two operators.
