Jakarta (ANTARA News) - National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo has confirmed that the arrests made at Pondok Kopi, East Jakarta, were linked to the recent parcel bomb cases.

"I think there is a link with the recent parcel bomb cases. I think, things are heading toward those cases," General Timur said at the presidential office here Thursday.

The police chief said the arrests were made following a series of investigation processes carried out by the police lately.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman has confirmed that six terror suspects identified by their initials as KS, MA, X, WR, MG and DT have been detained.

"Yes, that`s right there were some arrests at 5.10 am Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB) at Rawadas RT 1 RW 3 village, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta," Head of the National Police`s Public Relations Division Inspector General Anton Bachrul Alam said here Thursday.

Anton, however, could not name a group that the six alleged terrorists belonged to.

"We have a week, give those in the field a chance to find out," he said.

The six people were arrested at Duren Sawit in rented houses no. 72 and 78 owned by a woman named Elizabeth, he said.

He said the police were still studying their motive of staying in Jakarta, as they among other things hailed from Cirebon and Majalengka (West Java Province).

No one has been killed so far by parcel bombs, and only three policemen were injured when one of them was trying to defuse a parcel bomb sent to Ulil Abshar Abdallah, a founder of the Islam Liberal Network (JIL), at Utan Kayu, Jakarta, on March 15, 2011.

On March 15, in addition to the one at Utan Kayu, parcel bombs were also sent respectively to Goris Mere, the chief of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN), Yapto Soeryosumarno, the chief of the Pancasila (state ideology) Youth organization, and Ahmad Dhani, a musician.
