Besides securing the venue the presidential security guard along with the police would also secure airports and hotels where state officials would stay during the event.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police will deploy 4,385 personnel to ensure the security of the 18th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit scheduled to take place here from May 4 to 8.
"They will start to be on duty on Tuesday when ministerial-level meetings are to be held," head of operations of Jakarta Metropolitan Police Comamnd, Senior Commissioner Sujarno, said here on Monday.
He said the police would be assigned to secure Sector II and III while presidential security forces would be in charge of Sector I.
He said the Jakarta police would also deploy traffic police, intelligence and security units and a Mobile Brigade unit.
He said ASEAN ministers would start arriving on Tuesday, which would be followed by ministerial-level meetings until the summit.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police chief Inspector General Sutarman earlier said he had put a maximum security status in connection with the summit.
Minister/state secretary Sudi Silalahi meanwhile had called on both government and private agencies to actively participate in spreading information about the summit "so that the event could be felt by all community members."
ASEAN heads of state or government are scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on Thursday (May 5) while the president of Myanmar is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ahead of the summit.
Sudi who is in charge of the summit implementation assured the country`s readiness as host of the event in terms of the venue, organizing committee personnel.
He said the event had drawn international attention as proven by more than 458 media personnel including from abroad already registered to cover it. (*)
