Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta city administration is ready to host the 18th ASEAN Summit to be held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on May 7-8, Governor Fauzi Bowo said.

"In the past few days we have made preparations to provide security during the summit," he said following a meeting to discuss preparations for the summit on Tuesday.

Also present at the meeting were the chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the chief of the Jakarta regional military command and the head of the public prosecutor`s office.

The governor asked all agencies including fire department, health office, and the public works office to be ready to make the summit a success.

"We also ask stakeholders such as highway operator Jasamarga to ensure the success of the summit by providing enough lighting on toll roads," he said.

The police will deploy a total of 4,385 personnel during the summit.(*)
