Jakarta (ANTARA News) - JP Morgan, a leading financial services firm with global scale and reach, is interested in funding infrastructure projects in Indonesia.

A press release from the Cabinet Secretariat on Wednesday said JP Morgan`s CEO Jamie Demon met with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the presidential office here on Tuesday.

It said that at the meeting the head of state was accompanied by Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Chief Gita Wirjawan.

The purpose of Demon`s meeting with the president was to obtain further information about infrastructure projects under the Master Plan of Expansion and Acceleration of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI) program.

At the meeting the Indonesian head of state asked JP Morgan to give special attention to the MP3EI program which was launched recently.

JP Morgan, an international financial institution, is expected to be ready to fund the infrastructure projects, and to inform the international community that the investment climate in Indonesia remains promising.

It was indicated by the ratio of debt to the low gross domestic product of 26 percent.

"We have been at the Double B Plus position, and hopefully in the near future we can be Triple B Minus," Gita Wirjawan said in the press statement.

He said the MP3EI program needed a big amount of funds and therefore JP Morgan was expected to play its role in the program especially in funding infrastructure projects in Indonesia.
