Oslo (ANTARA News) - An ex-nurse of Libya`s Moamer Gadhafi, described by media as a "voluptuous blonde", has sought political asylum in Norway, where she now lives, the Norwegian Police Security Service said Thursday.

"We have been informed by the immigration services that she has sought political asylum in Norway," spokeswoman Siv Alsen told AFP, referring to nurse Galyna Kolotnytska.

She did not divulge her motivation.

Kolotnytska was propelled into the spotlight when WikiLeaks published US diplomatic cables saying she was so important to Kadhafi he could not travel without her.

She left Ukraine for Libya nine years ago, working as a nurse in a hospital before becoming the Libyan leader`s nurse later.

Kolotnytska was evacuated from Libya in February and went into hiding in Ukraine to escape media attention. She has not given any interviews.

In March, Interfax news agency reported that Kolotnytska had moved from her apartment near Kiev to escape harassment by the media since her return from Tripoli.
