The issues discussed by the chief justices included court administration procedures, continuing education for judges, and enforcement of intellectual property law.
The visit to the Indonesian Supreme Court chief was part of the Indonesian Supreme Court`s ongoing research tour of the US federal judiciary to advance Indonesia`s judicial reform efforts.
Chief Justice Tumpa and a delegation of Supreme Court judicial and administrative leaders were also to visit the Administrative Office of the US Courts, the US Federal Judicial Center, the US Patent and Trademark Office, and the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
This cooperation between two of the world`s largest democracies underscores the spirit of the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership. Technical assistance for the visit is being provided by the US Government through USAID`s Changes for Justice Project, an ongoing four-year program to support Indonesian reform.
