Bandung, West Java (ANTARA News) - Bandung police will deploy 1,100 personnel to secure Buddha`s birthday anniversary observance on Tuesday (May 17).

"We will deploy some 1,100 police personnel to secure the occasion," Bandung police spokesman Commissioner Endang Sri Wahyu Utami told the press here Monday.

Endang said her men will be assigned in several Buddhist monasteries in Bandung city.

The monasteries, she said included Arjuna at Jalan Kebon Sirih, Budhi at Jalan Cibadak, and Budha Sasana at Jalan Otista.

"Police security officers will be placed at 19 monasteries in Bandung city," he said.

She said they will also be assisted by West Java division military personnel.

She hoped all members of the society would have mutual religious tolerance so that the Buddhist celebrations would run smoothly.
