New York (ANTARA News/Reuters) - Defense lawyers for IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who is charged with trying to rape a hotel maid, want him released on $1 million cash bail and placed under 24-hour home detention with electronic monitoring, court papers showed on Wednesday.

A bail hearing in the case is due to be held on Thursday, a court official said.

Strauss-Kahn`s lawyers have denied the charges of a criminal sexual act, attempted rape, sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment and forcible touching. He was denied bail on Monday. The managing director of the International Monetary Fund faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted. (*)
