Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The associate chairman of Golongan Karya (Golkar) Party, Priyo Budi Santoso, said coalition members are not banned to have different views under the new contract.

"Nothing in the new contract for coalition of political parties supporting the government is new and surprising," he said at the House of Representatives (DPR) Building here on Tuesday.

He said the new contract for the coalition signed recently by leaders of political parties supporting the government was mere confirmation of the desire of joint secretariat members to strengthen the coalition structure.

Signing the contract were leaders from ruling Democrat Party (PD), Golkar Party, the United Development Party (PPP), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the National Awakening Party (PKB).

Priyo said there was still a clause in the contract that gives a room for coalition members to differ.

"The regulation of sanctions in the contract is a mere derivative of the President`s prerogative right as head of government and head of coalition," he said.

So, he said, the right to evaluate the presence of political parties in the coalition and ministers from the political parties concerned in the cabinet is in the hands of the President.

Golkar Party, he said. remains committed to supporting the government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono until the end of their term in 2014.

"Not all government policies must be accepted. Golkar Party views in safeguarding the government it need not surrender to all government policies," he said.

He said if the government policies are not pro-people Golkar Party would continue to fight them.

Political parties staying outside the coalition include the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) which is led by former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, the People`s Conscience Party (Hanura) led by former military chief retired general Wiranto and the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) led by former military figure retired general Prabowo.
