"US President Obama has pledged to attend the meeting of East Asian leaders to be held in November," Pastika said here on Thursday.
Pastika said Obama confirmed a plan to participate in the summit through the US ambassador and consul general when they met him at his office here on Wednesday.
He said the summit would bring together all leaders of the East Asia Summit members.
The East Asia Summit is a meeting of the 10 ASEAN member states, along with China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand. The Bali summit will feature two new members, the USA and Russia. East Asia Summits are held after annual ASEAN leaders` meetings. The first summit was held in Kuala Lumpur on December 14, 2005.
"Obama will come. He will also enjoy the natural scenery and culture of Bali," Pastika said.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would come to Bali in July for a conference ahead of Obama`s visit, he said.
