Qindao (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian badminton team failed to reach the final round of the Sudirman Cup championship as it was beaten by Denmark 1-3 in the semifinals here on Saturday evening.

With the victory, Denmark would meet China in the final round on Sunday.

Indonesia and South Korea have to be satisfied to be on a third place in the championship.

Denmark`s victory over Indonesia was determined by women`s single player Tine Baun who beat Indonesian Ardiyanti Firdasari 21-13, 21-13 in 34 minutes.

The first match between mixed doubles players Indonesian Fran Kurniawan Teng and Pia Zebadiah were forced to surrender by Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinne Pedersen 21-15, 11-21 and 13-21 in 63 minutes.

In the second match Indonesian men`s single player Simon Santoso failed to stop Peter Gade from proceeding to the next round, surrendering at 18-21, 16-21 in 44 minutes.

Indonesian men`s double players Alvent Yulianto/Mohammad Ahsan narrowed the losing gap winning 23-21, 21-17 from Carsten Mogensen/Mathias Boe in 43 minutes.
