Cairo (ANTARA News) - Indonesian ambassador to Yemen Nurul Aulia said the security situation in the capital of Yemen was now very dangerous following fierce fighting between government forces and opposition demonstrators.

"We are all staying in the basement of Wisma Duta and cannot go out because the situation is very dangerous," he said when contacted by ANTARA from Cairo, Friday, seeking confirmation about the situation there.

The ambassador and his staff are holding out in Wisma and a number of Indonesian nationals in the embassy building.

Asked about plans to evacuate all Indonesian nationals and embassy staff he said he had no plans yet because situation in the roads seemed to be very dangerous including the one leading to the airport.

Right now there are 66 Indonesian nationals mostly students hiding in the embassy in Sanaa. The embassy has so far sent home a number of Indonesian nationals following a crisis in that country. (*)
