"The first-quarter imports rose significantly," Head of the Riau Provincial Statistics Office Abdul Manaf said on Friday.
In the January-March 2011 period consumer goods imports climbed 134 percent, raw and auxiliary materials 35.74 percent and capital goods 123.72 percent compared with the same period last year, he said.
In March 2011 alone, the province imported US$159.55 million worth of goods, up 3.32 percent from the previous month when the figure was US$154.42 million, he said. (S012/A/HAJM/00:14/H-YH)
