"The incident has become a learning process for me and my company," Sumardi said after being named a suspect in an "unpleasant act" case by the Tanah Abang police Precinct in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.
Sumardi said he hoped the persons who had reported the case to the police would retract their reports so that he did not have to face criminal prosecution for his unpleasant act.
He said he as the CEO of Buzz & Co marketing company would compensate the people who had felt disturbed by the coffin delivery.
Sumardi who is also a writer said he had sent coffins to several Jakarta mass media and food product company executives to promote his latest book.
Previously, Sumardi sent hundreds of one-meter-long coffin and triggered frenzy on Monday morning without clearly mentioned the clear address of the sender, instead he just wrote a website address that did not even exist on the internet, www.restinpeacesoon.com.
At about 10 am on Monday morning, a number of national mass media received a crate containing a coffin. The recipients of the unusual "gifts" included Detik.com, Kompas.com, Okezone.com, English-language daily newspaper "The Jakarta Post", Tempo, television media ANTV and RCTI.
The crates carried a sticker that said "Rest in Peace" with the name of the company`s delivery service called "Rest in Peace Soon" addressed from Unit 166 located at Jalan Asia Afrika Door IX, Senayan, Jakarta 10270.
Other recipients of the coffins were executives of Indosat Tbk., (Bambang Pangestu), Garuda Food (Ferry Haryanto), Garda Oto (Liaurentia Iwan Pranoto) and PT LG Indonesia (David Tjokro
