Houston (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - U.S. authorities have launched an investigation after the finding of dozens of bodies in a mass grave in Liberty County, Texas state, media reports said Tuesday.

Twenty five to thirty bodies were buried at the intersection of County Roads 2049 and 2048 between Hardin and Daisetta, local media quoted Liberty County Sherrif`s Office as saying.

The bodies are those of children and were dismembered, according to the reports. The area where the bodies were found is largely rural with a mix of fields and small wooded areas.

About 15 Sheriff`s Office vehicles and at least one cadaver dog are on the scene, according to KHOU, the CBS`s affiliate television station in Houston.

A tipster alerted the authorities about the bodies, the report said. (*)
