Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Law and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar said he had asked the Foreign Ministry to call on all Indonesian diplomatic missions overseas to look for Nunun Nurbaeti, a suspect in a high-profile bribery case who is believed to be hiding abroad.

"We have asked the foreign ministry to call on all (Indonesian representatives to search for her," the minister said here on Thursday after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the management of penitentiaries outside the control of the Law and Human Rights Ministry.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had named Nunun Nurbaeti a suspect in connection with alleged bribery linked to the election of Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Miranda Gultom in 2004, the anti-graft body`s chief said.

Patrialis said, his ministry had coordinated with the foreign ministry to help the KPK in locating Nunun Nurbaeti.

Referring to former Industry Minister Fahmi Idris`s statement about the possibility that Nunun was using the passport of a niece whose face resembled hers, Patrialis said that he had yet to obtain definite data about it.

However, Patrialis asserted that under the Indonesian immigration system, Nunun could not possibly have another passport beside the one the government had revoked.

"In Indonesia, someone cannot have two passports at the same time. But if it happens in another country, it is beyond our competence," Patrialis said.

Relating to Nunun`s pursuit abroad, the police headquarters had received a request for a "red notice" on Nunun from the KPK.

According to National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo, the red notice request would be passed on to Interpol which has links with 188 countries.(*)
