"Without connectivity, some areas will remain isolated and untouched by development," said the vice president at the opening ceremony of the National Summit for the Development of Under Developed Areas 2011.
Boediono said some areas in Indonesia were still categorized as under developed due to their lack of access to other areas around them.
In order to tackle the problem, Boediono suggested that local governments build infrastructure that would help build inter-regional connectivity. Boediono also expressed hope that, in building connectivity between different regions in Indonesia, coordination between the central and local governments would be improved in the future.
He also said. in 2012 the government would start mapping coastal areas which in past years were considered underdeveloped.(*)
