"We have a leased power plant that has operated so that the electricity in Murung Raya has a surplus of about one megawatt of the capacity of three megawatts," Branch Manager of PT PLN Kuala Kapuas, Yuly Sasmiharto said here, Sunday.
According to Yuly, the additional power plants in most rural districts in Barito River also received support from Murung Raya district administration.
In addition, the district administration also assists in building a power grid so that the power can be distributed to remote villages.
Even the power lines in Tahujan Ontu village is used as a pilot project for the PLN, namely prepaid electricity that has many advantages over the previous payment system.
"Under the prepaid program, the local people can enjoy electricity in accordance with their wishes and needs with the pulse system," Yuly noted.
Meanwhile, regent of Murung Raya deistrict, Willy M.Yoseph said, one of PT PLN`s vision is similar to the local administration program, namely independence.
In this case PLN has freed the society from lack of electricity, he said.
In addition, the electricity is expected to strongly support the the program "Smart and Healthy Murung Raya 2013" which is now being encouraged by the local administration in the northernmost district of Central Kalimantan province.
"The local administration is very welcomed by the movement of a million connections and the prepaid electricity program. It is certainly very helpful for the people. But we really hope that in the future power supply will regularly reach all villages, sub districts and districts," Willy hoped. (*)
