Cairo (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian embassy in Sa`naa has repeated its urge to all Indonesians to leave Yemen in view of the armed conflict there.

"The political, social and security situation in Yemen had become worse and uncertain prompting the Indonesian embassy to urge all Indonesians to immediately leave Yemen," said the Indonesian embassy in a press release received by ANTARA here Monday.

The Indonesian embassy has so far repatriated 253 Indonesians in eight stages mostly students since the political crisis broke out there four months ago.

On Saturday (June 18) the embassy repatriated the eighth stage of 30 people.

Right now there are still 40 Indonesians taking shelter at the embassy pending the next stage of the repatriation.

Actually there are 111 Indonesians who chose to stay in Yemen, but moved from the capital city of Sa`naa to several cities in Handramaut province considered safe like Mukalla, Seiyun and Tarim.

Two weeks ago the Indonesian embassy called on all Indonesians to leave Yemen following the fierce armed battle in Sa`naa between government troops and the armed opposition.

The security condition in Yemen had become worse after the Presidential Palace had also become a target of bomb attacks, wounding President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

President Saleh and some high officials also hurt had been admitted at a royal hospital in a neighboring country, Saudi Arabia. (*)
