Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Women`s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar said there was nothing wrong about the recently established Obedient Wives Club.

"In my opinion, in a family both husband and wife have to be obedient, husbands must obey their wives, and wives obey their husbands, then a harmonious family can come into being," Linda said here Tuesday.

Being a democratic country, Indonesia could not prohibit such a community to be established, she said.

"Go ahead, it`s alright," Linda said.

On June 18, 2011, Malaysia`s Global Ikhwan (Brotherhood) initiated the establishment of an Obedient Wives Club (KTS) in Jakarta. The Club is based in Sentul, Bogor.

KTS Chairperson Gina Puspita said KTS just wanted to implement Islamic teachings completely.

Wives and would-be wives joining KTS will receive guidance on how to set up Islamic families. "The guidance includes sexual life courses," he said.
