Cooperatives and Small and Medium Scale Business Minister Sjarifuddin Hasan here Tuesday received a visit of a Malaysian delegation led by Malaysian Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yakoob.
The Malaysian delegation consists among others representatives of Suruhan Jaya Koperasi Malaysia (SKM), Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia (ANGKASA), Maktab Kerjasama Malaysia (MKM), and Bank Rakyat.
The cooperation includes in the fields of businesses, consumerism, knowledge-based activities, tourism, and law and regulations.
The Indonesian and Malaysian governments are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperatives Development Cooperation, at the Annual Malaysian-Indonesian Consultation in Tampak Siring, Bali, September 2011.
The Malaysian minister is scheduled to visit the Jakarta Teacher Family Cooperatives (KKGJ), which has 19,235 members in 2010 and a total asset of Rp41.7 billion.
Malaysia has around 8,000 cooperatives and mostly are engaged in small-scale businesses.
