Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Saudi Arabia has admitted it was negligent in not notifying the Indonesian representative in that country on the execution of Ruyanti Binti Satubi over the weekend.

Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday that the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia admitted that his country did not send a notification it should have done.

"The ambassador told us that in essence they were negligent in not notifying us. You can imagine, the country of origin of a person who is to be executed should be notified. It is part of the standing procedure," the foreign minister said.

He said that the foreign ministry once again summoned the Saudi ambassador on Wednesday to hand over Indonesia`s strong protest and disappointment over the the execution of Ruyati, a domestic helper who killed the wife of her employer.

Ruyati, who was sent to Saudi Arabia by manpower supplier firm PT Dasa Graha Utama, was found guilty of killing the wife of her Saudi employer, Khairiya binti Hamid Mijlid, on January 12, 2010 by striking her repeatedly on the head with a meat chopper and stabbing her in the neck.

The incident took place after a quarrel because Ruyati`s request to go home was rejected. Ruyati was executed on Saturday, June 18, 2011.(*)
