Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - State fertilizer company PT Pusri plans to increase its subsidized urea fertilizer stocks in Bengkulu province to Rp1,500 tons from 500 tons to anticipate a shortage of the commodity.

"We have decided to increase the subsidized fertilizer stocks by 1,000 tons from Palembang (South Sumatra). The fertilizers are expected to arrive in Bengkulu in two days` time," the company`s area manager in Bengkulu, Lambang Budi Santoso, said on Tuesday.

By early July the province`s subsidized fertilizer stocks would reach 1,500 tons which was enough to meet local farmers` need for two months, he said.

"Until August subsidized fertilizer stocks in Bengkulu will be enough so there will be no fertilizer shortage," he said.

In 2011, Bengkulu will receive subsidized fertilizer allocations of 30,000 tons for 10 districts and municipalities in the province, he said adding 16,000 of the fertilizers had been distributed among farmers.
