Baghdad (ANTARA News/AFP) - Two soldiers and a civilian were killed and 10 other people wounded in bombings in Iraq on Wednesday, an army officer and an interior ministry official said.

The two soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb that targetted a patrol in Iskandiriyah, 50 kilometres (30 miles) south of Baghdad, Captain Mohammed Hashem said, adding that a third soldier was wounded.

In the southern Baghdad district of Dura, one civilian was killed and seven people, including four policemen, were wounded by a roadside bomb targetting a police patrol, the interior ministry official said.

Two other people were wounded in another bombing in the area, the official added.

Violence in Iraq has decreased significantly since its peak in 2006 and 2007, but attacks remain common. A total of 177 people died in violence in May, according to official figures. (*)
