Former Bareskrim chief Commissioner General Susno Duadji praised Sutarman`s appointment as the new Bareskrim chief saying "I think it is correct. It is very good for regeneration and because he has performed well."
Susno said Bareskrim`s function is significant with regard to law enforcement.
"The public has so far complained a lot about the function and therefore it needs special attention," he said.
Sutarman will be replaced as the Jakarta Metropolitan Police chief by Inspector General Untung Suharsono Radjab, currently chief of the East Java Police Command.
Sutarman on Friday called for support for his new assignment as the new the police`s new chief of detectives.
"I need support from the people because the new task is very heavy," he said.
He said he saw the assignment as a blessing as well as a test for his capability to carry out the mandate.
He pledged he would never accept "a case order" but "I would prioritize public service."
He said he would not discriminate against anyone with regard to law enforcement.
Bareskrim is currently handling the case of alleged Constitutional Court (MK) ruling document forgery implicating among others ruling party cadres.
With regard to it he would stick to evidence and testimonies from witnesses.
"If evidence and testimonies are sufficient in ten days the case could be handed over (to the prosecutor`s office)," he said.
