Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono is scheduled to officially close the Ninth National Jamboree 2011 at the Danau Teluk Gelamg camping ground, Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra Province, Saturday.

The national jamboree which was officially kicked off by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on July 2, 2011, would be closed by Boediono, early Saturday, according to information from the Vice President`s Secretariat.

Boediono and his wife, Herawati, flew to Ogan Komering Ilir from Palembang by helicopter.

He was expected to speak before around 30,000 participants of the national jamboree.

During the jamboree, which is held by the Indonesian Scout Movement (Pramuka) every five years, the participants learned among other things about technology, industry, cinematography, journalism,, automotive industry, clay handicraft, and agriculture.

When opening the 9th National Jamboree of Pramuka at Danau Teluk Gelam Camping Ground in Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra, on July , President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked provincial governors across the country to help promote scout movements (Pramuka) in their respective regions.

"Allocate enough funds through regional budgets so that the movement would grow further," he said.

He said the movement helped educate the younger generation and build discipline and friendship.

He said the pramuka movement had to be continuously developed especially with regard to making the younger generation ready to lead in the future.

President Yudhoyono also asked the scouts movement to revitalize activities and the nation character building in effort to prevent radicalization, violence and drug abuse among Indonesian younger generation.

"Reinforce the role of scouts movement as part of the national education system, make the scouts movement as a protective element for the youths from terrorist radicalism and drug abuse," he said.(*)
