"The Korean Cultural Center is to be established with the aim of introducing Korean culture and expand Hallyu, the pop music genre now sweeping Indonesia," the South Korean embassy says in its press statement received here on Thursday.
The Cultural Center to be located on the 17th floor of Equity Tower in the Central Sudirman Business District (SCBD) will be a place to absorb information about Korea to satisfy those wishing to know about Korea, it says.
The director of the Korean Cultural Center, Kim Hyun Ki, says in the statement the center is also expected to be able to satisfy Koreans in Indonesia who miss their country and a place for Indonesians and Koreans to exchange their culture.
Kim says the center`s interior design would present traditional motives to provide a picture of Korea which is dynamic and modern.
"In the reception area culural goods will be displayed while behind the area there will be a large TV screen to make visitors feel the atmosphere of traditional and modern cultures," he says.
Kim says facilities to be provided later include a library, a multi-media room and a multi-purpose room.
The library will provide a collection of 1500 books on Korea and visitors could also enjoy films, drama and DVDs with Korean stars there.
In the multi-media room a large TV screen will be provided for visitors wishing to enjoy live broadcasts from Korea and photo slides about Korea.
The 200-meter wide multi-purpose room meanwhile may be used for small-scale exhibitions and performances or a small party and showing Korean films.
