Although Ramadan and Idul Fitri are routine events, the government must make sure that the food stocks and transportation services were adequate, the head of state said.
"We know that in accordance with the economic and social situation dynamism, there are always new problems, and therefore what he had done in the past is not enough if we do it at present," he said.
The president instructed every minister to work hard to make good preparations and study all potential problems proactively, instead of waiting for the problems to come.
"If we know that there are roads to be repaired, we must not wait to carry out the works until one or two weeks before Idul Fitri. If we know that there will be a queueing problem in Merak crossing port, there must be a solution now, so we must not wait that a long queue happens that will make us panic and reactive. Good preparations are important as there are more private cars and trains as well as other transportation means are expected to be full, too," he said.
In the cabinet meeting which was also attended by Vice President Boediono, the president reminded that food stocks must be guaranteed and their prices are affordable, besides paying attention to the farmers` interests regarding prices .
"It`s important to manage it properly in order to give the best services to the peopple," he said.
