TNI Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono said on Friday Rp1.3 trillion of the funds would be used to buy arms made by PT Pindad and ships manufactured by PT Koja Bahari and PT Pal.
Magelang, C Java (ANTARA News) - The National Defense Forces (TNI) will get an additional budget allocation of Rp2.4 trillion under the revised 2011 state budget, with Rp1.3 trillion of the funds to be spent on main armament system, its chief said.

TNI Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono said on Friday Rp1.3 trillion of the funds would be used to buy arms made by PT Pindad and ships manufactured by PT Koja Bahari and PT Pal.

"Based on the latest information we have received, we will get an extra budget allocation of Rp11 trillion. But because the state finance does not make it possible, it seems we would get Rp2.4 trillion," he said after installing 201 career officers at the Sapta Marga square in the Military Academy compounds here.

The career officers consisted of 110 from the Army, 43 from the Navy and 55 from the Air Force. Thirty-nine of the officers were female officers.

The military chief said that the newly-installed officers were career officers consisting of S1 and D3 graduates. They would later take up special posts in various fields, including law and health.

He said starting 2011 graduates of the Military Academy (Akmil), the Air Force Academy (AAU) and the Navy Academy (AAL) received Applied Defense Science degrees.

"The program has been drafted for a long time. Hopefully, they could pursue higher education at defense university for S2 degree. As such, TNI will have many defense experts," he said.(*)
