The team is to be sent abroad on Tuesday evening, Law and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar said here on Tuesday.
"It`s difficult to say where he (Nazaruddin) is. If we mention his location, he might hear it and run away. We don`t know his whereabouts, but for sure, the joint Police and Immigration team will leave this evening for a country overseas," the minister said.
When the authorities knew about his whereabouts, the first step was to communicate with the government where Nazaruddin was, he said.
"We explain that he is a fugitive and his travel documents have been revoked by the government, so if he still has a passport, it is invalid," he said.
The Indonesian government and the government where Nazaruddin was, would cooperate to bring him home to Indonesia, he said.
Nazaruddin, a former treasurer of the Democrat Party and a legislator, has been named a suspect in a corruption case related to a SEA Games Athletes Village project in Palembang, Sumatra, and left for Singapore a day before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked the ministry of justice to issue a travel ban for him.
From Singapore, Nazaruddin was believed to have fled to Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam. He is now suspected of having been hiding in Argentine.
The Indonesian police have issued a red notice in their efforts to arrest him.(*)
