Jakarta (ANTARA News) - General Motors AutoWorld Indonesia (GMAI) as the sole agent for Chevrolet in the country managed to sell 70 cars until the fifth day of the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2011.

"It`s been 70 units sold up to yesterday (July 26)," said Director of Marketing and Communications GMAI Debora Amelia Santoso here on Wednesday.

According to Debora, New Chevrolet Captiva has been dominating and become the biggest sales contributor at the IIMS 2011.

For the IIMS 2010 event itself, GMAI is targeting 150 units of GM automotive products, but Debora expects sales during the exhibition to increase by 10 percent.

Earlier, Debora said GMAI was targeting the sale of 5,000 units in 2011.

Chevrolet Captiva accounted for 60 percent of GM sales in Indonesia, while Chevrolet Lova occupied second position as a car mostly used as taxis in Indonesia.

In the 19th annual Indonesian automotive exhibition, the Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers Association (Gaikindo) had targeted sales worth Rp2, 7 trillion, or up approximately Rp500 million to Rp800 million compared to 2010.

Gaikindo also targeted an increase of 300,000 in the the number of visitors whereas the figure had reached more than 130,000 until the fifth day of the exhibition.

Meanwhile, the German premium car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz sold about 57 units at the Indonesia International Motor Show in just two days.
