Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Association of Garuda Pilots (APG) has decided to end its strike after the PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk management, following mediation by the state enterprises minister, agreed to settle its dispute with its pilots.

"I on behalf of the APG President, starting at two minutes to 1 pm WIB (Western Indonesian Standard Time) ....we are stating that all members end the strike," APG President Captain Stephanus Geraldus Rahardi said at a press conference at Garuda Indonesia`s Ground Operation Building at Cengkareng, Banten, on Thursday.

The agreement between the Garuda management and APG could give the best result for the company and the pilots, according to him.

The decision to end the strike was made after receiving a mediation by State Enterprise Minister Mustafa Abubakar.

In a closed door meeting, Minister Abubakar received a number of APG members and the the Garuda direction.

As reported earlier, Garuda`s pilots have decided to go on strike staring 00:00 am on Thursday (July 28).

Due to their strike, ten percent of the 66 scheduled flights from Jakarta to various regions were delayed.

Stephanus thanked Minister Abubakar for his mediation.

"The important is that we have reached an agreement to solve the problem together. The decision to end the strike is for the best interest of the company and its employees," he said.

Meanwhile, Garuda President Director Emirsyah Satar said he was grateful that the strike had been ended.

He said the next meeting between the management and the pilots would be held in Ramadhan fasting month.

"Hopefully, we could achieve the best solution for both parties before Idul Fitri," Emirsyah said.

Garuda pilots had decided to go on strike if their demanded to be paid the same salaries as foreign pilots in the company`s employ was not met.
