Normally, the number of foreign tourist visits to the Borobudur temple ranging from 300 to 500 people per day, but during the first month of the tourist summer vacation, their amount rose from 800 to 1,000 people per day, spokesman of the Borobudur temple tourism park, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Pujo Suwarno said here on Friday.
"The foreign tourist visits increase because they begin enjoying their summer holidays from July to October this year," he said, adding the world largest temple was built around the 8th century in the Syailendra Dynasty reign.
In July 2011, according to him, the number of foreign tourists to the Borobudur temple consisting of Dutch 5,054, French 2,684, Japanese 2,301, Thailand 2,105 and Malaysia 2,064 people.
"This is the origin of the top five foreign tourists amount to Borobudur last month," Pujo said.
According to him, the summer vacation that lasted for four months was the right moment to boost the number of foreign tourist visits to the Borobudur temple.
"Especially now the Borobudur temple has relatively returned to normal for tourist visits, following the Mount "Merapi" volcanic eruption by the end of last year. Of course, the foreign tourists can get direct interesting stories about the mount eruption incident," he said.
In addition, the number of domestic tourists from various regions in the country visiting the Borobudur temple during the holidays are ranging from 8,000 to 11,000 people, he said.
Pujo also said that his office will prepare a few extra tourist attractions during the Idul Fitri festivity 2011 at the Borobudur temple.
