Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chairman of the Democrat Party (PD) Executive Board Anas Urbaningrum has said that he is ready to be confronted with Muhammad Nazaruddin, the party`s former treasures, concerning several bribery cases.

"Yes, I am ready," Anas said in a response to the press question on whether he would be ready to be confronted with Nazaruddin, here on Thursday.

Anas Urbaningrum visited the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) building with two other chairmen of the party, namely Ichsan Modjo and Sutan Bathoegana.

Earlier, Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)`s Ethics Committee Abdullah Hehamahua said that his committee would confront M Nazaruddin`s information with Anas Urbaningrum.

Anas said he had not yet received an invitation from KPK regarding that matter.

"Up to now, I have not received the letter, but I am fully ready to help the KPK`s Ethics Committee if I am invited to give necessary testimony," he said.

Nazaruddin was accused of having accepted bribe money in a project from the government to build an athletes` dormitory for the upcoming SEA Games event in Palembang, South Sumatra.

He fled Indonesia to Singapore on May 23, a day before KPK imposed a travel ban on him. He finally was caught in Cartagena, a small town located over 600 km from Bogota, Colombia, South America, on Sunday (August 7, 2011), by local police who suspected him of using a fake passport.

During his overseas hideouts, Nazaruddin said in a private TV station interview that certain top leaders of the Democrat Party were also involved in the corruption deal.

This was responded to by PD Chairman Anas Urbaningrum as an unfounded attack to him.

In the recent PD coordination meeting Anas said that he had become a target of strong attacks to weaken his party. He said that he felt he was now the target of strong attacks amid the sensational issues plaguing the PD of late.
