Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The general chairman of Indonesia`s ruling Democrat Party, Anas Urbaningrum, said the party would not politicize or interfere in the case of its former treasurer, Muhammad Nazaruddin.

"From the beginning the Democrat Party has been committed to fully referring the case to law enforcement agencies for judicial process," he said after opening a Democrat Party bazaar here on Friday.

He made the statement in response to questions from newsmen regarding the arrival of Nazaruddin on Saturday from Bogota, Colombia, where he was arrested on Monday after leaving the country on May 23 or a day before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked for a travel ban for him.

Nazaruddin has been named suspect in connection with a bribery case linked to the SEA Games athlete village project in Palembang. From his hiding Nazaruddin has made statements that some party leaders have also been involved in his case including Anas.

Anas has denied Nazaruddin`s statement and has even filed a lawsuit against him.

Anas responded positively towards Nazaruddin`s immediate arrival hoping the legal process of his case could be immediately carried out.

"I hope the legal process could be done transparently and objectively to show who is right and who is wrong," he said.

Anas also said that the case must be processed according to the law and not politicized or under political influence.

"Let the legal process runs according to legal terms," he said.

Anas said an objective and transparent legal process would be the best solution of the case as well as the impact of his statements so far.

"His arrival I think will bring the best solution," he said.
