Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian ambassador to the US said he was surprised to hear that the aircraft carrying graft suspect Muhammand Nazaruddin from Bogota had spent two nights in Washington before resuming its flight to Indonesia.

"I will study the information and ask about it to the Indonesian embassy in Columbia. Thanks for the information," Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dino Patti Djalal said when contacted from Jakarta on Saturday evening.

Rumors have it that before flying to Indonesia, the chartered aircraft which was carrying Nazaruddin from Bogota happened to spend the night in Washington before resuming its flight to Jakarta.

It was even rumored that a number of deals had been made and US agents had also been involved in the case that befell the former treasurer of the Democratic Party (PD), a political party whose establishment was initiated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Dino admitted however that the chartered Gulfstream aircraft which flew Nazaruddin from Bogota to Indonesia came from an airline company based in Washington.

"I know that (a US firm plane) but I am not informed of the rumors that the plane had spent the night in Washington. I have no report about that. I will communicate with our ambassador to Colombia with regard to the matter," Dino said.

He said that up to now, no report had been filed at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington regarding the entry into the United States of an Indonesian passport on behalf of M Syarifuddin.

"It is a stupid thing for an Indonesian involved in a legal case to run away and enters the United States. The immigration system in the United States is sophisticated so that any foreigner with legal problems could be detected in no time," he said.
