Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Employees of Indonesia`s state-owned companies are not allowed to receive parcels, money or any kind of gifts linked to Idul Fitri to avoid gratification charges.

"On the other hand state-owned companies and state enterprises ministry officials are also not allowed to give any kind of gift to anyone," state enterprises minister Mustafa Abubakar said here on Friday.

He said he would soon issue a circular to that effect to prevent possible legal problems.

"The circular is still being made and would soon be distributed to all state-owned companies without exception," he said.

In connection with Idul Fitri an New Year celebrations people usually exchange of gifts but the tradition has now been put under public scrutiny due allegations of gratification in the midst of current government campaign against corruption.

Based on Article 12 B of Law Number 20 of 2001 gratification to a civil servant or state apparatus would be considered a bribe if it is given in connection with the the official`s status and against the official`s obligation or duty.

A state official is obliged to report to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) if he/she recieves a gift.(*)
