Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has promised not to interfere in a graft case allegedly involving Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar, presidential spokesman Julian Aldrian Pasha said.

Julian said here on Monday the head of state was yet to give a response to the alleged corruption case in the manpower and transmigration ministry.

The alleged corruption case in the manpower and transmigration ministry is now being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

However, Julian said, the president was always firm regarding the principle of equality before the law of cases involving corruption eradication and enforcement of the law.

He said if the KPK was to investigate Muhaimin, the president would not interfere , let alone hinder it.

"The president will not intervene or hinder it if an investigation is needed for the sake of due process of law," the presidential spokesman said.

He said the head of state would definitely uphold the principles of the rule of law so that no matter who was guilty must be processed based on existing legal procedures.

On August 25, 2011, the KPK arrested two officials of the ministry of manpower and transmigration, namely, the secretary of the Directorate General for Transmigration Area Development (P2KT) I Nyoman Suisanaya and teh head of P2KT Evaluation Program Affairs Dadong Irbarelawan.

The two ministry officials were arrested along with Dharnawati, a businesswoman of PT Alam Jaya Papua. They were arrested together with the evidence in the form of Rp1.5 billion in cash hidden in a durian fruit box.

Dharnawati said in a statement through her lawyer that she had been asked by the ministry officials to present a Lebaran (post-fasting month festivity) gift to Minister Muhaimin Iskandar. Muhaimin, however, has denied Dharmawati`s allegation.
