Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Former Army Chief of Staff General (ret.) Makmun Murod had been entombed at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta Wednesday.

The military funeral was led by Army Chief of Staff General Pramono Edhie Wibowo, following a funeral procession from the house of mourning led by Army Strategic Commander Lt Gen AY Nasution.

Makmun Murod died on Tuesday at slightly after noon following complications and following intensive care at Pertamina hospital for several days.

Makmun Murod (87) was born in Baturaja, South Sumatera on December 24, 1924.

The son of the late Muhammad Murad and the late Juriah left a wife with three children.

The late Makmun Murad had been granted several awards including Bintang Mahaputra Adipradana, Bintang Kartika Eka Paksi Utama, Bintang Jalesena Utama, Bintang Swa Bhuawana Paksa Utama, Bintang Bhayangkara Utama and Bintag Dharma.

He also had a number of honorable medals, like those from Malaysia, Belgium and South Korea.

Attending the funeral were a number of former army chiefs of staff like General (ret.) Ryamizard Ryacudu, and General (ret.) Surjadi Soedirja, in addition to People`s Consultative Council (MPR) chairman Taufik Kiemas and lawmaker Tjahjo Kumolo. (*)
