Ambon, Maluku (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affaris Joko Suyanto is in Ambon, Maluku, to inspect a number of scorched areas in Sunday`s communal clash.

"The security minister arrived in Ambon on Thursday to inspect the scorched and damaged areas in the city after the clash on Sunday, September 11, 2011," Maluku Governor Karel Albert Ralahalu said.

Ralahalu made the statement after chairing a coordination meeting with Maluku Police Chief Brig Gen Syarif Gunawan, Pattimura Military Commander Mayor General Suharsono, and the Main Naval Base IX Commander Commodore Rahardjo Dwi Prihanggono.

The governor said the security minister in the visit to Ambon would be accompanied by National Police Chief Gen Timur Pradopo and Army Chief of Staff Let. Gen. Pramono Edhie Wibowo.

The security minister, National Police chief, and Army chief of staff visit Ambon to obtain first hand information about the situation and condition in the city after the Sunday`s communal clash, and to hold a coordination meeting Maluku provincial government officials, and the local TNI/Police leaders to discuss steps to stability and recovery.

Ralahalu said the security minister would chair the coordination meeting on Thursday evening with related officials including the governor, deputy Governor Said Assagaff, Maluku police chief, Pattimura military commander, Ambon mayor and deputy mayor, and Maluku community leaders.

The governor also explained that the security condition in Ambon has in general returned to normal along with office and public economic activities.
