Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian embassy in Ankara recently held a business luncheon to promote bilateral trade ties between Indonesia and Turkey.

"Indonesia is looking for variety of breakthroughs to realize Indonesia-Turkey`s trade target of US$ 5 billion in 2014," the embassy said in a statement.

The trade target was proclaimed when Turkish President Abdullah Gul visited Jakarta April 2011.

The business luncheon was organized in cooperation with the provincial government and the Provincial Agency of Coordination and Promotion of Investment (BKPPMD) of West Java, along with the Indonesian Honorary Consulate in Izmir.

The business luncheon also initiated Indonesia`s participation in the 8th Izmir Fair Trade.

"The Business Luncheon went very well, and was attended by the Governor of Izmir Mustafa Cahit Kirac, the Deputy Governor, the Deputy Mayor of Izmir, and also 70 entrepreneurs and stake holders of Izmir," Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Nahari Agustini said in the statement.

During the luncheon, the ambassador informed the participants about the development of cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey in many areas.

She was optimistic that the trade target of US$ 5 billion in 2014 could be achieved.

The Governor of Izmir, meanwhile, hoped that he could immediately see the development of Indonesia and Turkey relations, especially in the city of Izmir.

"Thus, the role of the economic actors of the two countries is very fundamental, considering there are only a few Indonesian investors in Izmir and vice versa," he added.

The Deputy Mayor of Izmir said that the business luncheon bridged the development of relations between the two countries.

Turkey is one of the exporter of wheat flour to Indonesia. Meanwhile, Indonesia`s potential commodities entering Turkey`s market are rubber, textile, thread, and plastic products.
