In my three matches with Taufik Hidayat, only this time could I beat him,"Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Tommy Sugiarto beat second-seeded Taufik Hidayat in the semifinals of Indonesia Open Grandprix Gold 2011 at Palaran Stadium in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Saturday.
Tommy Sugiarto who is ranked seventh in the tournament defeated Taufik Hidayat in 21-10, 21-15.
In the men`s single finals on Sunday (Oct 2), Tommy Sugiarto will play with his compatriot Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka who has earlier advanced to the finals after beating Alamsyah Yunus of Indonesia in 24-22, 20-22 and 21-13.
"I am satisfied with this achievement as I have for a long time dreamed of beating him (Taufik). In my three matches with Taufik Hidayat, only this time could I beat him," he said.
He said he would do his best to face Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in the finals.
"The last time I played with him was last year in the quarterfinals of Indonesia Open Grandprix Gold 2010 when I lost to him," he said.(*)
