Kendari, Sout East Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono canceled a planned teleconference with the Wakatobi community in Southeast Sulawesi on Wednesday, October 12, 2011.

The president was originally scheduled to conduct a teleconference in connection with the opening of the Applied Technology Exhibition in Southeast Sulawesi`s provincial capital of Kendari but the teleconference was canceled.

"Although it has been canceled, the Wakatobi district government will still prepare the facilities for the teleconference of the head of state with the people of Wakatobi," Wakatobi deputy district head Aruhawi Ruda said here on Tuesday.

He said President Yudhoyono canceled the teleconference with Wakatobi people on Wednesday because at the same time the head of state would attend a ceremony to close the Sail Wakatobi-Belitung 2011 in Belitung district, Bangka-Belitung province.

Therefore, Vice President Boediono would represent the head of state in opening the 13th National Applied Technology Exhibition in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on October 12, 2011.

"Vice President Boediono will be in Kendari for a few hours, and thus it will be impossible for him to hold a teleconference with the people of Wakatobi to ask about the results of development which were made during the Sail Wakatobi-Belitung 2011," Aruhawi said.

Meanwhile Southeast Sulawesi`s Village Administration and Community Empowerment Board (BPMPD) spokesman Askabul Kijo said the vice president would represent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in opening the exhibition.

"I have received confirmation from the Coordinating Ministry for People`s Welfare that President Yudhoyono will not be able to open the exhibition and that Vice President Boediono will do it on the President`s behalf ," Askabul Kijo said.

"We can understand that President Yudhoyono will not be able to open the exhibition but the important thing is that the committee has made everything ready for this national event," Askabul adde.

He said that all facilities including accommodation and transportation for the participants of the exhibition had been made ready.
