Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Composite Stock Price Index at the Indonesian Stock Exchange registered a rise at the market`s opening on Monday in line with a strengthening of global stocks.

The index opened at 3696.65 or 31,97 points (0,87 percent) higher while the index of 45 leading stocks (LQ45) rose 7.95 points, or 1.22 percent to 657.64 points.

Meanwhile, regional exchanges such as the Hang Seng index rose 370.50 points (2.00 percent) to a level of 18872.29, the Nikkei-225 index gained 133.46 points (1.53 percent) to a level of 8881.42 and Straits Times rose 22,06 points (0.80 percent) to a level of 2766.23.

"Asian stocks opened in significantly higher positions this morning, about 1.5 percent was positive sentiment from the strengthening of global stock markets at the weekend," said Chrtisne Salim, chief researcher at Samuel Securities, here Monday.

The rise in Asian stocks , according to Salim, was also an effect of the weekend meeting of G20 countries which had generated greater optimism about a solition to the debt crisis in Europe.

She said the renbound of US stock exchanges over the weekend had added to the positive sentiment onr Asian bourses.

"The strengthening of US stock exchanges led the S&P 500 index to rise by six percent. This positive sentiment came from the release of a report that the performance of issuers and retail sales in the third quarter was better than expected," she said.

In addition, world commodity prices especially oil at the weekend also rose significantly by around three percent to 86.8 US dollars per barrel. This added to positive sentiment for commodities issuers.

She said the trading of shares on the BEI on Monday in IHSG terms was also expected to strengthen as consquence of the strengthening of global exchanges and of the rupiah`s exchange rate.

According to Salim, foreign investors posted net buys totaling around Rp1.94 trillion n during last week.

"The BEI index is expected to pas the psychological level of 3700 with the upper limit at the level of 3715 points," she said.
