"My new task is challenging and I think it is great as we have a ministry that develops the creative economic sector," she said after attending the installation of new ministers at the State Palace here Wednesday.
She said the creative economic sector was contributing about Rp140 trillion to the state income and thus the sector should be seriously managed.
She pointed out that the government had a blueprint on development of tourism and creative economy, which could serve as a basis and target of her ministry`s efforts.
The former trade minister was planning to communicate with the Education and Culture Ministry as previously the culture sector was handled by the former Culture and Tourism Ministry.
Mari Elka Pangestu said she still had to design her ministry`s e organizational structure. "Probably, there will be a directorate general for creative economy," she said.
In addition, she would also focus on matters related to her minsitry`s budget.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Tuesday evening announced the new line-up of the cabinet consisting of new ministers including Law and Human Rights Minister Dr. Amir Syamsuddin, Administrative Reforms Minister Azwar Abubakar, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan, State-owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Syarif Cicip Sutardjo, Public Housing Minister Djan Faridz and Environmental Affairs Minister Prof. Dr. Baltazar Kambuaya.
New deputy ministers are Musliar Kasim (the education and culture ministry, in charge of education), Wiendu Nurhayati (the education and culture ministry, in charge of culture, Prof. Denny Indarayana (the legal and human rights ministry), Eko Prasodjo (the administrative reform ministry), Widjajono Partowidagdo (the energy and mineral resource ministry), Wardana (the deputy foreign affairs ministry), Sapta Nirwandar (the tourism and creative economic ministry), Mahmudin (the state-owned enterprises ministry), Prof. Ali Ghufron (the health ministry), and Rusman Heriyawan (the agriculture ministry).
Ministers shifted to other positions are Jero Wacik who is now energy and mineral resources minister, EE Mangindaan transportation minister, and Mari Elka Pangestu tourism and creative economy minister, and Gusti Muhammad Hatta research and technology minister.
Bayu Krisnamurthi was appointed deputy trade minister and Mahendra Siregar deputy finance minister.
Lt. General Marciano Noorman was named National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief.
In announcing the lineup of the reshuffled cabinet, the President was accompanied by Vice President Boediono, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Sulalahi and members of the presidential staff. (*)
