The foreign countries that would send their athletes to the Sirnas (National Circuit) championship are India, Canada, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Singapore, Madagascar and South Korea, he said here on Tuesday.
"India will send 11 players, South Korea two and five others only one," he said.
He said only a few foreign players would take part in the annual event because it coincided with other championships and school examinations in some countries like Malaysia and Singapore.
"Sirnas Surabaya should have been held in September but it had been postponed to be a final series," he said.
He said the number of participants in the event totaled 1,265 coming from 18 provinces, 106 clubs and seven foreign countries. The number is bigger than in 2010 when it was attended by 1,184 players.
He said the Cipayung national training center will field 13 prime players in the singles events consisting of six men and seven women players.
"Totally there will be 1,483 matches for beginners to seniors," he said.
The Sirnas Surabaya will be the closing event of nine series staged by the executive board of the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) this year.
Earlier the Sirnas series were held in Palangkaraya, Bengkulu, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Pangkalpinang, Bali and Makassar.
Former national training center player Alamsyah Yunus who won the champion title in Makassar would be fieided as the men`s single first seeded while three-time winner Febby Angguni in the women`s single.
The executive chairman of the East Java chapter of PBSI, Abdul Chodir said almost all the best players of the province of all age groups would take part in the championship.
"I hope they could use the opportunity to win as many titles as possible," he said. (*)
